This weekend...

Make these pancakes:

You will thank me for the pure bliss you will experience while devouring them. They are divine. I couldn't do anything but relive how good they were for hours after we had them this week.

Pumpkin Pancakes:
* 3 C buttermilk pancake mix
* 2 C cold water
* 2/3 C canned pumpkin
* 1 tsp ground cinnamon
* 1/2 tsp ground ginger

Wisk all together, flip on skillet

Buttermilk Syrup:
* 1 and 1/2 cups sugar
* 3/4 cup buttermilk
* 1/2 cup butter (or margarine)
* 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 teaspoon baking soda

In a medium saucepan, bring all ingredients to a boil - except for the vanilla extract. Allow to boil gently for at least five minutes. Remove from heat and immediately stir in the vanilla.

Get ready for your world to be rocked.
Happy weekend.

Halloween...

The way I feel about Halloween is not a secret, I've blogged of my resentment in years past. I don't get it. I don't get into it. I'm happy when its over.

To celebrate the anti-holiday this year, we went to see the play Sweeney Todd {the Demon Barber of Fleet Street} with Sam and Alex. We had great seats. We were so excited. We were sitting in anticipation for it to start when suddenly, a group of dressed up, 20-something freakshows filed into the row in front of us. One of said freakshows sat directly in front of me.

She was wearing this:
I am 5' 2". I am a short person. I couldn't see anything over the mangled hair, top hat, and reams of tulle that blocked my view of the entire stage. And yet, somehow, I don't harbor any resentment toward her. I am actually kind of grateful to that girl, in all her costumed glory, for allowing me to capture in film a photograph that proves my whole point as to why I feel such a strong abhorrence for Halloween. So thank you, tulle-top-hat girl, for the precious gift you have given me.

Also, in case you were wondering, the play was SO well done and fabulous, and I leaned the entire time.

After, we went to the Village for food. As you can see, I ordered a piece of pie and french fries, and feel no shame.
We also carved pumpkins:

And had a visit from our friends the Pirate and Snow White:
Thanks Halloween for the fun,
you weren't so bad this year...

Today...

I wish I was taking another spur-of-the-moment day off
and trip to Park City with these girls like I did last week...

{Emmy, Liz, LP}

Such a gorgeous day, lots of shopping,
fancy caramel apples and so much laughing.

I live for days like that....I love my friends.

Dear Snow,

{my snow-covered feet this morning, approx. 10:00 am}

Wow, you've really done it, haven't you?
You are probably pretty proud of the
blizzard you have going on out there.
Well, you've had your fun, and proved your point.
It's still October for heavens sake!
Please melt melt melt.

Sincerely,
LW
{your mortal enemy}

The Bench...

The bench was in my Mom's house and had its heyday circa 1992 when country blue and dusty rose was the color of your couch, carpet, and ruffly valances.

Last night, I gave it a makeover.

Here it is before:

Light oak, cut out hearts,
a perfect accent to your tole-painted farm animal decor.

And after...
Stained, cushioned, and heart-less

Cute right?
Come on over and have a seat sometime.

Our Street...

Isn't our street gorgeous right now?
Living in Logan is my favorite this time of year.

How I love the fall...If only it lasted longer.

Reunited...

I will be truthful.
These are some things I dislike in life:

1. Sunday night at 10:00, coupled with the stark realization that the weekend is OVER

2. February in Utah when the holidays are long gone and there is nothing to be seen but winter winter WINTER

3. Mission Reunions

What I love? How much Adam LOVED his mission.

It's the best thing that ever happened to him, the best place he could have ever gone, and the best people he has ever met. As a result, once a year I buck up, make him promise he will take me to get a blizzard after, and go reunite.

Some of his best friends in the world were made on his mission and they LOVE each other...that I also love.

So, I guess it really isn't that bad...{even though it is}

Last weekend was the blessed event...
Here we are reuniting:
Whitehead, Welker, Taylor, Smith

All the Guatemala City South-ers
